What is an Eternity Ring?

rings Gifts 1 min read
An eternity ring symbolises continuing love.

Distinct from an engagement ring or wedding band, the eternity ring is a symbol of enduring love which is usually gifted after marriage. LIke all rings, its circular shape represents endlessness, while the timing of the gift is a beautiful way of saying that while your relationship may have matured, the romance is still there.

The traditional eternity ring is a gold band set with multiple small diamonds, worn on the same finger as the engagement and wedding rings. However, modern eternity rings can be made of any combination of precious metals and stones, and they can be worn on either the left or the right hand.

A wedding band half-set with diamonds (that is, featuring diamonds across the top half of the band) can make an excellent eternity ring, as its design makes adjusting the size up or down if her hands change over time quite straightforward. The diamonds may be claw set, where the diamonds are raised on the band, or channel, set where the diamonds are set into the band. You can also choose a single row of diamonds, or splash out with multiple rows of diamonds.

An eternity ring is an ideal way to commemorate a significant event or anniversary. Our consultants can work with you to custom design an eternity ring in your choice of precious metal, which can be set with coloured stones to represent milestones. Some clients opt for blue or pink stones to symbolise the birth of a son or daughter, or add a birthstone to the mix.

Whether you design a custom eternity ring together, or choose it yourself as a complete surprise, the thoughtfulness of this gift is bound to be appreciated.
